Following up an announcement from PMA2010, the appreciated japanese lens maker announces that starting with 6th of August 2010 will start shipping a new UWA zoom for Nikon F mount, Tokina AT-X16-28 FX PRO F2.8.
This lens aims for higher performance, has an excellent optical design resulting in extremely high optical performance. It features the company’s newly developed AF system that includes a quieter Silent Drive-Module (SD-M) autofocus motor and promises more precise focusing. The weather-sealed lens comes with a fixed lens hood and does not incorporate a filter thread. Priced at ~ US $1400 this new piece of glass is highly regarded among photographers and will be a direct competitor of Nikon 14-24mm f2.8. Unfortunately it will not accept filters which is the only complaint regarding the awesome 14-24mm f2.8.
